Week Seven

  1. What did you do this past week?
This past week I studied for the exam and joined a group for the IDB project. I ended up spending a lot of time on making the cheat sheet, which wasn’t perhaps the best use of my time before the exam.

  2. What’s in your way?
A busy schedule. For the rest of the semester I’ll be participating in 2 different group coding projects, which will be a challenge. Time management is definitely a key part of this semester.

  3. What will you do next week?
Next week I will meet with my IDB group and dive into the project. At the moment we’re still coming up with ideas. The project seems a little overwhelming right now because I haven’t worked with most of the tools we’re supposed to use, but hopefully I’ll catch on quickly. Overall, I’m excited to work on this project! I’m sure it’ll be challenging, but also rewarding.

My experience in the class:
The exam wasn’t as bad as I was expecting; however I still made some silly errors. I think I need to study differently for future exams in this class. I hadn’t used many of the coding concepts we studied by the time the exam rolled around, which was not a great situation. It would’ve been helpful to have been more comfortable with these ideas. For future exams I will definitely focus more on using the functions and practices we learn. Additionally I’ll start studying earlier so that I don’t have to cram as much and can spend more time digesting what we’re doing.

Tip of the week:
I find that listening to white noise can help me focus when I’m having trouble concentrating. Noisli allows you to listen to a variety of white noise combinations, and there’s also a Chrome extension for it.
